Thread-to-Barb Fittings for Instrument Tubing

FOREACH thread-to-barb fittings connect threaded equipment ports to flexible tubing in IVD, life science, laboratory automation and analytical instruments. In tubing-connection catalogs, this arrangement is also described as a thread-to-tube fitting. The fittings connect pumps, valves, fluidic manifolds and other threaded fluid-handling components in reagent delivery, washing, circulation and drainage lines. Straight, elbow and swivel designs accommodate port orientation, enclosure space and rigid-to-flexible tubing transitions. Female-thread-to-barb versions can be paired with compatible hard tube fittings to adapt rigid tubing to flexible tubing.

The range includes SA thread-sealing, SB bottom-sealing and SC female-thread-to-barb designs. Standard SA designs seal at the threaded connection; SB designs seal against the corresponding port bottom; SC designs accept a matching fitting at the female-thread end and flexible tubing at the barbed end. Model-specific thread options include M6×1, 1/4-28 UNF, 10-32 UNF, 1/8-27 NPT, 1/4-18 NPT and G1/8. Barbed versions accommodate tubing IDs of 1.6, 2.4, 3.2, 4.8 and 6.4 mm. Body materials include PP, PA, POM and PVDF, with PEEK or O-ring-equipped designs on selected models. Straight fittings route tubing along the port axis, elbows change direction, and swivel versions help orient the tubing during assembly.

The threaded and barbed connections together determine the sealing performance and pressure capability of the assembly. Match the thread specification, sealing face and seal to the equipment port; any supplementary sealing material must comply with the relevant assembly requirements. Select the barbed end according to tubing ID, wall thickness, hardness and working pressure. Swivel fittings assist with routing adjustment; leave clearance for tightening the fitting and bending the tubing. Fitting, tubing and seal materials must suit the process fluid, cleaning fluid and working temperature. Apply torque appropriate to the fitting material and design, avoiding overtightening or tubing side loads that could damage plastic threads and sealing surfaces.
