How do you match a thread-to-barb fitting to a fluid connection?

Thread-to-barb fittings connect flexible tubing to threaded ports on pumps, valves and other fluid-system components. The official overview identifies the thread specification, tubing inner diameter and material compatibility as the starting points for selection.

  • Threaded port
Match the thread specification and sealing arrangement to the mating port. A similar-looking thread is not enough to establish compatibility.

  • Flexible tubing
Match the tubing inner diameter to the specified hose-barb connection. Review the tubing material and operating conditions as part of the complete connection.

  • Fluid and operating conditions
Check all wetted materials against the fluid and cleaning process, then verify the assembled connection under its intended pressure and temperature.
