What do these products do in this instrument?
Multiport rotary valves: selection of sample, standard and wash sources
Establish the current analytical or maintenance connection in fixed paths with multiple sources, coordinated with drives and measurement windows. Correct valve position still requires confirmation of new-liquid arrival and residue clearance.
MRV3 selects sources or destinations and requires a port-state diagram and shared-volume budget. Port count indicates routing options; confirm pressure in each state and independent simultaneous supply requirements separately.
Solenoid Valves: Branch On-Off Control and Maintenance Isolation
Control opening, closing or two-way switching in actual branches, coordinated with pump and bypass programs. Identify destinations and permitted pressures for normal, power-loss and fault states separately.
Solenoid valves control branches according to actual ports, flow direction, differential pressure and power-off state. Check opening/closing order with pump commands; inspect shutoff leakage and shared residue separately.
Define connections using the instrument's port-state diagram
This page covers multiport rotary and solenoid valves. Mark each port, current source, receiver and isolated branch, checking connections during aspiration, delivery, cleaning, maintenance and power loss. Valve selection must match conditions permitting drive actions.
Include renewal of shared segments after switching in the sequence
After source switching, shared tubing may retain the previous composition. Record volume and arrival delay from the new source to the receiver, and measure residue and recovery for the actual worst-case switching combination. Confirm port positioning and arrival of new liquid separately.
Translate actual branch conditions into configuration requirements
| Condition | To confirm |
|---|---|
| Connections and pressure | Provide port diagrams and pressure conditions for all operating, cleaning and shutdown states. |
| Shared volume | Identify residue locations after source changes, flushing volumes and discharge destinations. |
| Control and isolation | Check valve-position feedback, pump actions, shutoff leakage and permitted power-off states. |
| Operation | Specific operating conditions |
|---|---|
| Ports and interlocks | Task state, sample or vessel identity, concurrent resources, interlocks and restart |
Compare product configurations by the roles on this page
| Product | Configuration option | Conditions to verify |
|---|---|---|
| MRV3 multiport rotary valve | Multiple-source selection | Compare 10-, 16- and 24-port options and port diagrams; verify high-pressure suitability separately |
| SV10 solenoid valve | On/off control or branch selection | Check normal state, differential pressure, flow direction and duty cycle; high-pressure tasks require a separately suitable configuration |

Ports and interlocks
Include measurement, washing, bypass and fault states in the drawings. Shared volume and transport delay determine when a signal can be identified as a valid sample measurement.
Confirm product roles in actual operation
| Operation | Measurements and observations | Priority checks |
|---|---|---|
| Ports and interlocks | Test concurrent operation, limiting states and complete fault recovery; verify that identities, cumulative quantities and records match actual actions | Resource conflicts, communication loss or mismatched identities can cause delivery to the wrong destination or repeated dosing. |
Check delivery, response, blanks and fault recovery through the complete method cycle.
Do more valve ports mean more channels can supply liquid simultaneously?
Check port connection structure and drive configuration. The number of selectable sources, independent paths and simultaneous-operation capability are different conditions, determined by actual connections in each state.
Configure metering, continuous supply, liquid washing and air-containing waste removal separately. See Laboratory Automation for platform scheduling.
