What do these products do in this instrument?
High-Pressure Injection Valves: Switching Pressurized Separation Paths Where Required
Only where the actual workflow includes pressurized separation requiring switching should configurations be compared for state-dependent pressures, ports and interfaces. Treat this separately from low-pressure buffer source selection; source-selector capability does not establish suitability for pressurized switching.
Compare HP-series port connections and pressures in loading, injection and other states. Configure pressurized analytical paths separately from auxiliary low-pressure source selection.
Multiport rotary valves: buffer and sample source selection
Switch the active buffer or sample path in multisource configurations, coordinating the drive and displacement of shared volume. Confirm the configuration for its actual pressure exposure, and verify arrival of the new composition.
MRV3 selects sources or destinations and requires a port-state diagram and shared-volume budget. Port count indicates routing options; confirm pressure in each state and independent simultaneous supply requirements separately.
Define connections using the instrument's port-state diagram
This page covers high-pressure injection valves and multiport rotary valves. Identify each port, current source, receiving destination and branch requiring isolation. Check connections during aspiration, delivery, cleaning, maintenance and loss of power. Coordinate valve selection with the conditions that permit drive operation.
Include renewal of shared segments after switching in the sequence
After source switching, shared tubing may retain the previous composition. Record volume and arrival delay from the new source to the receiver, and measure residue and recovery for the actual worst-case switching combination. Confirm port positioning and arrival of new liquid separately.
Translate actual branch conditions into configuration requirements

| Control and isolation | Check valve-position feedback, pump actions, shutoff leakage and permitted power-off states. |
| Operation | Specific operating conditions |
|---|---|
| Buffer switching | All ports, valve states, pressures in each state, shared volume and flushing volume |
Compare product configurations by the roles on this page
| Product | Configuration option | Conditions to verify |
|---|---|---|
| HP high-pressure injection valve | Pressurized injection-path switching | Check port pressures and sample loops in loading, injection and other states |
| MRV3 multiport rotary valve | Multiple-source selection | Compare 10-, 16- and 24-port options and port diagrams; verify high-pressure suitability separately |
Explore specific operating and validation tasks
Buffer switching
Estimate displacement from the shared volume, then use a measurable signal to confirm stability. A multiport valve selects sources; suitability for a separation branch also depends on the pressure it experiences.
Confirm product roles in actual operation
| Operation | Measurements and observations | Priority checks |
|---|---|---|
| Buffer switching | Check unintended connections, leakage, backflow and post-switching residue in each state; measure flushing volume and arrival delay through the complete path | Misalignment, shared-segment residue or abnormal switching pressure may affect the next task |
Compare recovery and blanks before and after the complete path, and check the response after buffer switching.
Do more valve ports mean more channels can supply liquid simultaneously?
Check port connection structure and drive configuration. The number of selectable sources, independent paths and simultaneous-operation capability are different conditions, determined by actual connections in each state.
A material name alone does not establish low adsorption. Confirm sample preparation, loading and pressurized separation branches separately.
