Tubing pinch-off solutions in sample-gas and condensate handling

Application guide

This page explains tubing-pinch positions, supporting components and configuration requirements for branch shutoff and drainage control in sample-gas and condensate handling, with links to operating and validation tasks.

Applicable architecture

Check contact media and operating conditions separately for sample gas, condensate and absorbent liquid. Confirm gas-liquid diaphragm-pump pumping capability for the specific configuration. Liquid-supply, gas-aspiration and air-containing drainage parameters are not interchangeable.

01What do these products do in this instrument?

Tubing pinch-off solutions: flexible-branch isolation and drainage control

Control pinch-operated gas or liquid branches according to vacuum, discharge cycles and maintenance needs. Match tubing and fittings to inlet media, and check closed-state leakage and open-state resistance.

Discuss tubing pinch-off for the specific project. Tubing and fittings define the liquid-contact path. Validate tubing material, wall thickness, pinch seal and replacement procedure together, and assess cleaning or sterilization across the complete path.

02Match the pinch location to tubing condition

Confirm pinch-off and release conditions for the actual tubing material, ID/OD, wall thickness and operating pressure. Identify isolation locations and permitted flow states, and check that actuator motion and tubing reopening are compatible.

03Check pinch sealing and recovery after replacement

Measure leakage when clamped and flow when released, including actual cycles and post-maintenance checks. After replacing tubing, reconfirm positioning, sealing and restart performance. Validate cleanliness of the complete section together with its connections, assembly and cleaning procedure.

04Translate actual branch conditions into configuration requirements

05Compare product configurations by the roles on this page

Confirm this tubing-pinch option against the actual medium, pressure, connections and operating procedure. This page describes application roles and validation conditions; discuss specific product configurations for the project.

06Explore specific operating and validation tasks

Flexible-tube control

Tube bore, wall thickness and material affect aspiration and pinch reliability. After replacement, test leakage and repeated actions in the installed arrangement.

Operating-point validation and fault localization
OperationMeasurements and observationsPriority checks
Flexible-tube controlMeasure closed-state leakage, open-state resistance and tubing condition after cycling. Check complete-path sealing and contamination-control boundaries after maintenance.Tube fatigue, incorrect installation or differential pressure outside configuration limits may prevent closure

Check actual drainage/aspiration, gas tightness and effects on sample-gas composition. Validate recovery after maintenance.

08Does clamping tubing establish sterile isolation?

Evaluate the complete tubing, fittings, assembly and cleaning or sterilization procedure. Pinching only establishes opening or closure at a particular location.

Liquid flow, unloaded gas flow and gas-liquid drainage capability are not interchangeable. An absorbent-liquid pump is not necessarily suitable as a sample-gas pump.

What to Do When a Laboratory Waste Aspiration Pump Loses Suction: Troubleshooting Leaks, Filter Blockage, and Liquid Carryover

A laboratory waste aspiration pump is normally installed downstream of the collection bottle, overflow protection, and hydrophobic filter. It creates vacuum by removing gas from the bottle. When suction declines, first distinguish a change in the pump itself from a leak, blocked filter, activated overflow protection, clogged tip, or liquid carryover.
