01Where supply modes fit in the instrument

Define flow, cumulative volume and allowable no-flow time before comparing finite-stroke metering, alternating supply and suitable valveless metering. Include actual media, backpressure, refilling and restart in extended-run evaluation.

Measure cycle output and pauses under actual load. Correct cumulative volume does not ensure that every interval meets its flow requirement; define acceptance criteria separately.

02Product responsibilities in this operation

The valveless metering drive delivers liquid under the actual start-stop or continuous program. Nozzle geometry, backpressure and source conditions jointly affect what reaches the destination.

For continuous feeding, define actual flow, cumulative volume, allowable interruptions, backpressure, refills and operating duration.

03Organize the sequence by actual architecture

  1. For the suitable valveless metering configurations covered here, define target flow over time, operating period, cumulative volume and allowable interruptions. Compare other supply architectures in their product guides.
  2. Prime under actual formulation, temperature and backpressure. Measure initial, steady-state and post-stop output to establish what actually arrives at the culture interface.
  3. Include bottle changes, load changes and restarts. Record flow within each time window, output variation and cumulative delivery separately.
  4. After an interruption, preserve delivered-volume and abnormal-time records. The process program determines compensation and recovery rate; cumulative shortfall alone is insufficient.

04Define operating conditions for this task

Acceptance targetMeasure operating-flow trends and cumulative volume, including refill interruptions. Evaluate proportioning, process or analytical results according to the task.
Fault localizationAn empty source, bubbles, slip, pressure changes or resetting can disturb continuous output.

06Validate operation results at the receiver

Measure working-flow trends and cumulative volume, including replenishment interruptions. Evaluate ratio, process or detection results according to the intended use.

Record output across the run, replenishment interruptions, first flow after bottle changes and reactor volume balance.

07Locate abnormalities and restore the next operation

An empty source, bubbles, slip, pressure changes or resets can disturb sustained output.

Reconcile undelivered volume and process state before restarting to avoid duplicate additions.

Refilling or resetting a single syringe can interrupt supply. Continuous-operation capability and aseptic isolation both require system validation.

What Is a Valveless Metering Pump? Working Principle, Applications and Selection

A valveless metering pump is a positive-displacement pump that combines rotary and axial reciprocating piston motion to switch the fluid path, draw liquid in and discharge it. Its pumping mechanism does not rely on conventional inlet and outlet check valves. It can serve reagent dispensing, titration, filling and two-fluid proportional delivery, but metering performance still has to be verified with the actual fluid, pressure, tubing, drive and cleaning conditions.

Valveless Metering Pump Selection Guide: FOREACH Models and Applications

To select a valveless metering pump, first define the volume per dose and the time available for dispensing. Then check displacement per revolution, drive speed, wetted materials, backpressure and connections, and verify delivery in the actual fluid path. Neither flow rate alone nor the label ‘metering pump’ is enough to select a model.

Discuss fluidic configurations for continuous feeding

Provide a fluidic diagram, actual liquids and pressures in each operating state. Compare displacement, speed, actual backpressure and start-stop behavior; verify dual-stream ratios separately. Assess suitable configurations against this guide's validation objectives.
