01What do these products do in this instrument?

Bubble and pressure sensing: low-liquid monitoring and dose-event records

Provide bubble or pressure signals at defined supply locations. The controller preserves destination and confirmed delivery status. After a low-liquid interruption, distinguish no delivery, partial delivery and completed delivery before resuming.

ABD provides bubble or liquid-state signals for defined tubing; PDM5 provides pressure information at a defined location. Configure module, position and action window separately; the controller associates affected samples or tasks.

02Match sensing locations to specific fluidic problems

Bubble modules report bubble or liquid state in defined tube segments; pressure modules report pressure at defined positions. Before selecting mounting points, define the phase and abnormality to observe: aspiration, delivery, source depletion or branch-load changes. Associate sensor positions with affected samples, cuvettes or stations.

03Connect signals, action windows and recovery conditions

The same signal may mean different things at different valve positions or operating phases. Record normal ranges and faults with actual liquids, tubing and sequences. The controller combines action timing, confirmed delivery status, volume records and sample identity to pause, review or recover; one pressure change cannot directly identify a blockage location or specific cause. Distinguish measured, estimated and unknown volumes; completion of a command does not prove actual liquid delivery.

04Translate actual branch conditions into configuration requirements

Installation conditionsSpecify tubing dimensions, liquid, sensing location and branch to observe.
Timing and baselineRecord valve positions, pump actions, normal changes and fault-detection windows.
Abnormality handlingAssociate affected containers with confirmed delivery status and volume records; define conditions for review, continuation or re-execution. Distinguish measured, estimated and unknown volumes; completion of a command does not prove actual liquid delivery.

05Supply monitoring

Investigate empty sources, bubbles and backpressure changes while recording the current dose and replenishment state. Check the first dose and received volume after restart; normal sensor signals do not replace volume measurement.

When an empty-source or bubble signal occurs, the platform should associate its timing with potentially affected containers and recorded delivery stages. Check the first dose after restoring the path before releasing the next batch. A normal sensor reading does not establish acceptable delivery.

Measure fault detection, false alarms and end-to-end response separately; cover baseline changes with liquid, speed and operating conditions

Normal air segments, viscosity changes and sampling delays may be misclassified. The controller determines task validity; sensors alone do not prove dose or assay results.

Include first, middle and last batch doses, recovery after bottle changes, and extended operation with the actual medium.

08Can dispensing be repeated immediately after bubbles or abnormal pressure are detected?

First establish whether partial delivery has occurred and which container is affected. Immediate repetition may double-dose it. Act on the actual state and recheck the first cycle after recovery.

Repeated dosing and continuous supply are different modes. Valveless metering also requires validation with the actual medium and operating conditions.

Why Do Air Bubbles Delay or Bias Piston Pump Dispensing?

A completed piston stroke does not prove that the intended liquid volume reached the vessel. Bubble compression temporarily stores displacement; expansion can then cause a trailing dispense or affect the next cycle. Locate where bubbles first appear and compare synchronized pressure and individual dispense masses before and after priming.

What is flow resistance calculation for? Using the Foreach calculator in fluid-path design and selection

The free flow rate of the pump meets the requirements. After installing the pipelines, valves and joints, the liquid supply at the end is insufficient. Flow resistance calculations can break the problem down into comparable data: what pressure differential is required at the target flow rate, where does the pressure loss mainly occur, and what happens if the pipe diameter, pipe length, component Cv or medium viscosity is changed. This article combines the actual function of the Foreach flow resistance calculator with a recalculable fluid circuit case to explain how to use the calculation results for design, selection, troubleshooting and prototype verification.

What Is a Programmable Syringe Pump? Operation, Fluid Routing and Automation

A programmable syringe pump uses a motor to control syringe plunger displacement and speed, executing aspiration, dispensing, pauses and repeated actions through commands. With a routing valve, it can connect reagent reservoirs, reaction vessels and wash paths into an automated dispensing process. Instrument development therefore needs to define volume, fluid connections and timing together.

Discuss a reagent dispensing fluidic configuration

Provide a fluid-path diagram, actual liquids and pressures in each state. Validate detection and false alarms for the tubing, dimensions, media and action window. Confirm range and wetted configuration by model, then test normal baselines and faults separately against the guide's validation objectives.
