What do these products do in this instrument?
Bubble and pressure detection: identify supply loss and bubbles during transfer
Provide pressure or bubble signals in compatible fixed branches. The controller associates them with extraction, washing and elution stages. Before resuming, check the reagents and products already delivered.
ABD provides bubble or liquid-state signals for defined tubing; PDM5 provides pressure information at a defined location. Configure module, position and action window separately; the controller associates affected samples or tasks.
Match sensing locations to specific fluidic problems
Bubble modules report bubble or liquid state in defined tube segments; pressure modules report pressure at defined positions. Before selecting mounting points, define the phase and abnormality to observe: aspiration, delivery, source depletion or branch-load changes. Associate sensor positions with affected samples, cuvettes or stations.
Connect signals, action windows and recovery conditions
The same signal may mean different things at different valve positions or operating phases. Record normal ranges and faults with actual liquids, tubing and sequences. The controller combines action timing, confirmed delivery status, volume records and sample identity to pause, review or recover; one pressure change cannot directly identify a blockage location or specific cause. Distinguish measured, estimated and unknown volumes; completion of a command does not prove actual liquid delivery.
Translate actual branch conditions into configuration requirements
| Condition | To confirm |
|---|---|
| Installation conditions | Specify tubing dimensions, liquid, sensing location and branch to observe. |
| Timing and baseline | Record valve positions, pump actions, normal changes and fault-detection windows. |
| Abnormality handling | Associate affected containers with confirmed delivery status and volume records; define conditions for review, continuation or re-execution. Distinguish measured, estimated and unknown volumes; completion of a command does not prove actual liquid delivery. |
| Operation | Specific operating conditions |
|---|---|
| Sample preparation | Dose per operation, total cycle volume, replenishment/bottle-change interval, backpressure and receiving geometry |
| Washing and elution | Solid-phase location and retention target, wash cycles, aspiration height, residue, destination and downstream assay requirements |
Compare product configurations by the roles on this page
| Product | Configuration option | Conditions to verify |
|---|---|---|
| ABD bubble-detection module | Bubble or liquid-state identification in defined tubing | Validate detection and false alarms for tubing material, dimensions, medium and action window |
| PDM5 pressure-detection module | Pressure-state monitoring at a defined fluidic location | Confirm range and wetted configuration by model; validate normal baseline and abnormalities separately |
Related operations and architecture comparisons
Sample preparation
Assign container identities and destinations to each step, and establish programs for the actual lysis and binding formulations. After an interruption, confirm whether the product has already been transferred before deciding whether to complete the step or stop.
Washing and elution
Adjust aspiration height to the solid-phase position and vessel geometry, and assess low-volume collection separately for elution. Evaluate recovery, residual liquid and the next reaction. Volume accuracy alone does not establish washing effectiveness.
Confirm product roles in actual operation
| Operation | Measurements and observations | Priority checks |
|---|---|---|
| Sample preparation | Use actual media to check first, middle and last doses and delivery after bottle changes; confirm received volume and timing rather than substituting commanded steps for volume | Empty sources, bubbles, nozzle droplets and backpressure changes affect first or last doses |
| Washing and elution | Evaluate solid-phase loss, post-wash residue and downstream assay background or nucleic-acid recovery together | Insufficient capture, incorrect aspiration height, uneven coverage or pooling may impair washing and recovery |
Record product volume, recovery and downstream results, and check sample-to-sample contamination.
Can dispensing be repeated immediately after bubbles or abnormal pressure are detected?
First establish whether partial delivery has occurred and which container is affected. Immediate repetition may double-dose it. Act on the actual state and recheck the first cycle after recovery.
Extraction and library-preparation liquid handling differ in contamination and outcome requirements. Confirm research workflows and clinical diagnostic methods separately.
